As a Heavy Haul Driver Manager, you are the driving force behind the success and profitability of your fleet. You lead with purpose in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, guiding a fleet of professional drivers through the ever-evolving demands of the transportation industry.

In this role you will cultivate strong, trust-based relationships with your drivers while delivering on key performance metrics—including safety, service, training, retention, and operational excellence. You will champion a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, aligning daily operations with the company's quality, utilization, and profitability goals.

If you thrive in a performance-driven environment where effort = reward, you'll feel right at home here with the Driver Manager position's incentive opportunity, annual earning potential up to $110,000+ while supporting safe, efficient fleet performance!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build Strong Remote Relationships: Foster meaningful, trust-based connections with your fleet of drivers—no matter the distance—by delivering exceptional service and consistent support.
  • Lead, Train & Develop: Guide your fleet to success by providing ongoing training, coaching, and performance management aligned with ATS and departmental objectives.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with HR and Safety teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting of medical concerns, leave requests, and compliance matters.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Conduct root-cause analyses when issues arise, implement corrective actions, and proactively address performance challenges to prevent recurrence.
  • Enhance Driver Retention: Meet or exceed turnover goals by balancing professional expectations with personal support, creating a positive and productive driver experience.
  • Own the Load Lifecycle: Take full ownership of each load—from dispatch to delivery—by proactively communicating with internal teams and resolving issues that could impact service or driver satisfaction.
  • Optimize Driver Performance: Ensure drivers are fully prepared for each haul, including proper equipment, log hours, and scheduling. Actively manage ETAs and PTAs to maximize efficiency.
  • Solve Complex Logistics Challenges: Troubleshoot loading/unloading issues and navigate regulatory requirements such as OD rules, border crossings, port protocols, and customer-specific qualifications.
  • Champion Safety Culture: Lead by example in promoting ATS's safety standards. Educate drivers on best practices, ensure compliance with safety protocols, and minimize incidents through proactive engagement.
  • Identify & Mitigate Hazards: Monitor your fleet for potential safety risks and lead assessments or interventions as needed to maintain a safe and compliant operation.

Qualifications & Preferred Experience

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field, or 2–3 years of relevant training and/or equivalent experience in a customer-focused environment.
  • Prior experience in the transportation industry is a plus but not required—we're ready to train the right candidate.
  • Leadership experience, including supervisory or management roles, is preferred but not mandatory.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Total cash compensation range of this position is $76,000 to $110,000+ including a base salary range of $62,500 to $87,500 and nine-month training incentive of $13,500. Base salary offered is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications, and geographic location as compared to others doing substantially similar work.
