Overview:
We are seeking a Delivery Driver Supervisor to lead and drive the day-to-day execution of delivery operations
for our Wichita, Kansas facility. The Driver Supervisor owns day-to-day execution of delivery operations- leading drivers, managing real-time performance, and ensuring safe, efficient, and customer-focused service across all routes. Success in this role is measured by safety, service reliability, driver performance, and operational efficiency.
This position bridges frontline supervision and management by combining hands-on operational involvement with performance accountability, data-driven decision-making, and leadership responsibility. This role serves as the on-site operational leader and assumes full responsibility for execution in the absence of the Transportation Manager.
Responsibilities:
Daily Operations
- Lead and execute daily dispatch and delivery operations
- Verify route accuracy, load securement, and paperwork during dispatch
- Monitor routes in real time and resolve delivery issues, delays, and customer concerns
- Ensure all routes are covered; step in as a driver when necessary
- Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers throughout the day
Leadership
- Set clear expectations and enforce standards for safety, service, and productivity
- Hold drivers accountable through consistent coaching, feedback, and corrective action
- Conduct ride-alongs to evaluate performance and reinforce standards
- Participate in hiring decisions and lead onboarding and field training of drivers
- Maintain a disciplined, performance-driven culture focused on accountability and teamwork
Performance Management & Continuous Improvement
- Own daily performance against key metrics including on-time delivery, cases per hour, route efficiency, and service levels
- Identify performance gaps and implement corrective actions to restore expected performance
- Drive continuous improvement in routing, execution, and labor productivity
- Provide regular performance feedback and operational insight to transportation leadership
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce DOT/FMCSA regulations and all company safety policies without exception
- Ensure completion of pre/post-trip inspections
- Identify safety risks and take proactive corrective action
- Support and participate in investigations of accidents and incidents
Workforce & Operational Support
- Manage driver scheduling, PTO coordination, and staffing coverage
- Ensure accurate operational and compliance documentation
- Support workforce planning during peak and high-demand periods
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in delivery, transportation, or route-based operations
- Demonstrated experience directly supervising drivers in a delivery environment
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and hold employees accountable for performance
- Ability to work early mornings and adapt to a fast-paced, variable delivery environment
- Experience making real-time operational decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Strong working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations
- Familiarity with routing or fleet management systems preferred
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
- Hands-on leadership style with a bias toward action
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid Commercial Drivers License- Class A
- Medical Examiner’s Certificate – As required by the Department of Transportation
- Acceptable Motor Vehicle record (MVR)
