Required Skills and Experience
Minimum 5 years experience as a professional Sunstate Driver with a solid understanding and support of and adherence to Sunstate’s safety culture.
Demonstrated positive safety record.
Knowledge and experienced with DriveCam and the coaching process.
Completion of professional Driving Course.
Solid driving history, defensive driving techniques and strong safety record.
Fully skilled/knowledgeable in the operation of a variety of vehicles preferred.
Ground and air travel is required to a variety of Sunstate locations and/or educational seminars for development purposes.
Energetic, enthusiastic and superior coaching and interpersonal skills, which include the ability to quickly and effectively connect and build rapport.
Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills to deliver training effectively.
Knowledgeable and proficient with CDL Driver related processes and procedures.
Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to multi-task, operate with high sense of urgency, grasp and apply new information and quickly understand and resolve problems.
Ability to monitor and assess Driver/Customer interactions, quality of communication and provide feedback to improve performance.
Fluent understanding of current traffic laws and safe driving practices, Federal DOT regulations and State and local rules and regulations.
Maintain a professional presentation and appearance.
Must be highly dependable and timely.
Valid driver’s license, CDL.
Fluency in the English language is required while the ability to speak a second language (preferably Spanish) is a plus.
Physical exertion required, including, but not limited to, walking, standing, stooping, bending and lifting up to 90 pounds.
Responsibilities
Travel to various Sunstate locations to evaluate and provide hands on training.
Effectively recommend enhancements, support and implement the Driver development program.
Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing Sunstate’s standards and best practices.
Promote a teamwork oriented environment to ensure exceptional customer service.
Effectively collaborate with local management to assess driving skills, provide coaching to Drivers and set goals for continued performance improvement and ongoing development of skills.
As needed, work at a designated branch location for an extended period of time (on a temporary duty basis) to provide additional support.
Adhere to all Company policies, procedures, rules and regulations in written or verbal form.
Performance assessment record keeping.
Assist the local Management Team with on-site training, evaluations, mentoring and follow-up (as needed).
Evaluate and maintain training manuals and materials.
Facilitate and support safety training program rollout and enforcements.
Communication and adherence to Federal DOT regulations and State and local rules and regulations.
Develop and empower all employees to make sound business decisions.
Assisting drivers in their career path to obtain different commercial driver license types.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
