Role Purpose Statement

This is a newly created role for our Chicago Operations.   The Training Manager is responsible for overseeing the Chicago Training Department and ensuring the effective development, coordination, and delivery of training programs for all employees, with a primary focus on union employees and within the transportation department. 

This role ensures that employees understand and consistently follow job-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs), performance standards, and safety requirements from the time of hire and throughout their employment. The Training Manager plays a critical role in supporting transportation,  operational excellence, food safety compliance, workplace safety, and employee engagement.  Primary focus iniitally will be within Transportation Department.   

Location:  Our operations customer service center is located near Chicago O'Hare International Airport

Main Accountabilities

Training Program Oversight

  • Manage and oversee all training programs to ensure consistency, accuracy, and effectiveness
  • Interacts with operational teams to ensure training aligns with CSC operational standards, company policies, client procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Develops specifications for content of training courses and programs and ensures training materials reflect current standard operations procedures and safety requirements.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve training processes to support business needs
  • Instructs employees in both classroom lectures and real-time scenarios.
  • Follows up to determine applicability of training material.
  • CDL progression program for internal promotions
  • Experience in creating robust Driver Training Programs, Standards, Safety Content and a Positive Environment
  • Conduct driver-facing training in classroom, one-on-one, and in a driving environment
  • Present information using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, i.e., role-playing, simulations, team exercise, group discussions, and videos
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, class completions, evaluations, and coaching sessions in the appropriate systems

 

New Hire Training

  • Confirm completion of new hire orientation and onboarding programs
  • Ensure job-specific training is completed prior to employees working independently
  • Verify understanding of performance expectations, SOPs, and safety requirements

 

Ongoing and Recurrent Training

  • Coordinate recurring training programs, including refresher and compliance training
  • Ensure job-specific training is completed prior to employees working independently
  • Verify understanding of performance expectations, SOPs, and safety requirements

 

Safety and Compliance Support

  • Reinforce training related to food safety, HACCP, sanitation, and workplace safety
  • Partner with Safety and Quality teams to support audit readiness and compliance requirements
  • Promote adherence to safety practices and injury prevention initiatives

 

Training Records and Tracking

  • Oversee the accuracy and completeness of training records
  • Manage annual and periodic compliance training requirements
  • Oversee retraining following incidents, audits, corrective actions, or operational changes

 

Collaboration and Leadership Support

  • Work closely with Operations, Safety, Quality, and HR to support training needs
  • Provide input to leadership on training effectiveness and workforce readiness
  • Support supervisors with on-the-job coaching and employee development efforts

 Continuous Improvement and Engagement

  • Observe training activities and provide feedback for improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve training processes and employee performance
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous learning

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in training, operations, or leadership preferred
  • Experience with Transportation & Field Operations Training strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a union environment strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety, safety regulations, and operational procedures
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and training documentation systems


•Must have a CDL Class B (If not, you must obtain one through SkyChefs shortly after being hired)

Desired Skills
•Knowledge of federal and state traffic laws
•Skilled in operating an articulated vehicle up to 26’ in length
•Expertise in Pre-Trips, Driver Safety and Establishing/Maintaining/Executing Driver Training Programs
