Facilities Stores has an outstanding opportunity for a Driver-Warehouse Worker to join their team.

About this Opportunity

Reporting to the Assistant Manager for Warehouse Operations at the Plant Services Facilities Store, they will safely operate light and medium duty vehicles (up to one and one-half ton); pick up and deliver materials, tools, and equipment within required timeframes; perform warehousing duties in support of UW Facilities Stores.

Key Responsibilities 100%

• Operate light and medium duty vehicles, up to and including one and one-half ton trucks. Operate hydraulic lift gate, when applicable. Pick-up and deliver materials, equipment, and tools to various locations on and off campus.
• Perform warehouse functions in multiple locations which includes: counter service, inventory control, receiving and disbursing, material storage, along with picking, packing, staging, materials for delivery. Inspect incoming items and check for condition, quantity, and type against shipping documents. Set up storerooms and warehouse areas. Issue materials and stage materials for pickup by trades personnel. Accurately process materials utilizing the AiM system.
• Safely operate material handling equipment used in loading, unloading, moving and delivering equipment, materials, and supplies. Material handling equipment includes but is not limited to: forklifts, electric and manual pallet jacks, hand trucks, slant/panel carts.
• Utilize hardware and software associated with UW Facilities Stores inventory management. Participate in physical inventories on an ongoing basis.
• Interact daily with UW Facilities trades and other staff, and vendors; provide excellent customer service through timely responses to requests; deliver clear and courteous communication while paying attention to detail.
• Maintain a neat, orderly, safe work area which includes vehicle cleanliness. Perform pre-trip vehicle inspections and minor service on assigned vehicle, (e.g. tire pressure, windshield fluid), and clean the interior and exterior of the vehicle as needed
• Participate in workplace safety and job training certification classes as required to perform daily duties.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve workplace practices and processes to add value to the services provided.
• Provide support for all Materials Management programs and functions. Perform related duties as required. Assist with special projects as assigned. Driver-Warehouse Workers may be assigned to various campus locations based on business needs. Assignments to work sites may vary in duration and frequency.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Department.

• Physical ability to do required work AND one year of experience operating light trucks, delivery vehicles and related equipment AND possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

• Ability to learn and use customized database software.

Conditions of employment

• Valid Washington State Driver's License
• Substantial footwear is required and must be provided by the employee and worn on the job.
• Must be able to work in a non-smoking environment
• Ability to lift / move up to 50 pounds unassisted and ability to lift / move 50-100 pounds with assistance
• Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required

About the Team

UW Facilities Stores and Expediting personnel are part of a service focused team within Materials Management Department. We provide procurement, storage, and delivery support to all the UW's Maintenance and Construction trades. We also play the same role for the UW's Building Services Department and the buildings they service.

Facilities Stores acts as the main purchaser and distributor of all materials under $10,000 used by trades and custodians. Our Stores team include 2 physical store locations containing over 5000 SKUs, as well as a non-stock procurement team that processes order requests for materials we don't normally carry. Stores is a one stop shop for anything a trade shop or custodian may need, and if we don't have it available that day, we work with our customer to procure the item before their work requires it.

Expediting Services handles all the order pick-ups and deliveries that our Stores team process. They travel throughout the region to pick up orders as well as expedite rush pickups/deliveries when necessary. Whenever a building or UW property is experiencing an emergency, our Expediting team makes the order their top priority and provides constant communication and coordination between the vendor and customer until the material is delivered.

UW Facilities Stores and Expediting pride themselves on supporting the important work involved in the maintenance, renovation, and upkeep of the UW's beautiful buildings and grounds. It is our goal to make any material available to our customers before their important work requires it.

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

$48,396.00 annual
