Utility Inspections
Location: Houston, TX (Onsite + Field-Based) Schedule: MondayFriday, 8:00 AM start Compensation: $3050/hr (based on experience) Overview We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Drone Pilot (UAS Operator) to support utility operations through aerial inspections, data collection, and mapping. This role plays a key part in improving the safety, efficiency, and accuracy of infrastructure monitoring programs.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating drones in regulated environments and working with inspection data in the utility or energy sector. Key Responsibilities
Operate drones to inspect electric transmission/distribution and natural gas infrastructure
Plan and execute flights in compliance with FAA Part 107 regulations
Capture and analyze aerial data (thermal, LiDAR, RGB imagery)
Perform visual inspections and provide actionable insights to engineering and operations teams
Maintain flight logs, equipment, and ensure UAS readiness
Conduct pre-flight/post-flight checks and environmental risk assessments
Support emergency response efforts (storms, outages, etc.)
Collaborate with internal teams and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
Assist with documentation, reporting, and SOP development
Required Qualifications
FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification (required)
Level 1 sUAS Thermography Certification (required)
2+ years of UAS/drone experience (utility or energy sector preferred)
Experience with flight planning and aerial data analysis tools
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with thermal imaging, LiDAR, or multispectral sensors
Knowledge of utility infrastructure and inspection standards
Strong understanding of safety protocols and risk management
