INSPIRE a new generation of musicians.
Boston School of Music Arts
Two locations | Hundreds of students | W-2 position
Are you a great drummer who loves teaching?
Do you enjoy that moment when a student finally gets it—and suddenly realizes, “Wait, I can actually do this?”
We do too.
Boston School of Music Arts is a well-established, and growing music school with hundreds of students taking lessons every week. We're looking for an energetic, experienced Drum Instructor to join our faculty.
This is a great opportunity for a working musician who wants steady students, competitive pay, and a school that handles the business side of teaching.
WHAT WE OFFER
$30–$45/hour — private lessons
$40–$60/hour — groups & bands
$18–$20/hour — training
Plus:
- W-2 employment
- PTO for regular schedules over 25 hours/week
- 401(k) (including Roth)
- Supplemental insurance options ( Hospital, Accident, Life - Term and Whole)
- Students provided—we handle scheduling, billing, payments & marketing, and client services
- Training and ongoing support
- Opportunities to teach private lessons, groups & bands
- A fun, supportive faculty
- Free coffee, espresso, snacks & chocolate
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for someone who is:
- A strong drummer/percussionist and experienced performer
- An engaging, positive teacher and person who connects naturally with kids
- Comfortable teaching students ages 4 through adult
- Comfortable leading private lessons, small groups and bands
- Excited about helping students build real musical skills and confidence
ALSO: Piano, guitar, or bass experience is a plus.
A Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field is preferred, but not required.
Some of our best teachers are working musicians who bring together great playing, teaching experience, and personality.
THE JOB
You'll teach private drum/percussion lessons and may lead groups and bands. You'll help students build technique, prepare for performances and auditions, and—most importantly—discover that they're capable of more than they thought.
We believe music lessons aren't just about learning an instrument.
They're about confidence, persistence, creativity, and that moment when a student realizes:
“I can actually do this.”
If that sounds like the kind of teaching you want to do, we'd love to hear from you.
APPLY
Send us:
- Your resume
- A short note telling us why you'd be a great fit
- A few performance links or videos
No fancy audition video required—a quick phone video is fine.
Then text “Drum Teacher – [Your Full Name]” to (617) 690-2376.
Please do not apply or inquire in person.

Music Education - through innovative one-on-one, and small group learning since 2010.
ABOUT BOSTON SCHOOL OF MUSIC ARTS:
The Boston School of Music Arts is a brand new version of an established Boston music education and performance company. We have been delivering music lessons and performance in Boston since 2010.
We have two locations in Boston and both are very conveniently located near public transportation and plenty of free parking in both locations. The area contains several restaurants, shops and other conveniences, in an eclectic, culturally rich area of Boston.
You can be part of a highly diverse and vibrant community, with a strong curriculum. We are a performance-oriented school. This means that although we do prepare for auditions and examinations, our main focus is to teach performance confidence and competence, in addition to music reading and writing skills, and above all, creative expression through music.
About our students:
About 92% of our students are between 3 and 16 years old, and some are part of our Professional Department. The adults who are learning music with us are either absolute beginners, aspiring pros, or professional musicians.
We realize that some of our students may not become professional musicians. For those students, we strive to provide a fun but educational environment with well organized administration and excellent teachers and a warm environment that is conducive to learning. For those who are looking for more, we have that, too.
