In practice, this role entails preparing printing plates, adjusting ink and presssure settings, running test prints, and monitoring the press to ensure high-quality output. A pressman must control color quality, registration, and make mechanical adjustments to keep the press running smoothly. Given the dry-offset specialization, these press operators often print multi-color designs on three dimensional plastic products (e.g. cups, tubes, lids) by using plates and inks in a process similar to conventional offet lithography but without water.
