As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at The Arc of Monroe, you'll be at the frontline of supporting people with developmental disabilities, empowering them to lead fulfilling and independent lives.

Our Direct Support Professional positions in Fairport, New York and Penfield, New York offer a meaningful opportunity to work within your community. DSPs provide hands-on support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, assisting with daily activities, personal care, and community involvement. What does that mean? It means you'll help adults with some of their most critical needs including:

  • Personal Care: Helping people with hygiene, bathing, dressing, grooming, and using the toilet.
  • Meal Preparation and Assistance: cooking, serving meals, and supporting people with eating, if needed.
  • Medication Administration: Assisting with prescribed medications under supervision.
  • Household Management: Helping with cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment.
  • Transportation: Driving to appointments, activities, or community outings.
  • Community Involvement: Supporting participation in events, recreational activities, or volunteer opportunities.
  • Emotional Support: Providing companionship, building trust, and fostering positive relationships.
  • Health Monitoring: Observing and reporting changes in physical or mental health to supervisors.
  • Documentation: Recording daily activities, progress, and any incidents accurately.

  • Non-Driver Rate of Pay: 19.75/hour

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High school diploma/G.E.D. preferred. Prior experience helpful, but not required.

Licensure/Certification

  • Valid NYS driver's license
  • Must maintain current required certifications as designated by the agency including but not limited to: AMAP, SCIP-R, First Aid/CPR

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, internal equity, and location.
