SUMMARY
Open until filled-This is a technical position responsible for the management, maintenance, and operation of textile production machinery in the dyeing and finishing laboratory.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct or perform product development, sample production, and testing services in various areas of the Textile Technology Center.
Schedule lab personnel to facilitate the process of completing customer projects.
Schedule, initiate, and complete customer projects.
Establish and maintain a cost system based on time, materials, equipment, and staffing.
Train and supervise technicians as needed.
Accept responsibility for managing situations and problems.
Order supplies.
Prepare travel requests, leave requests, reimbursement requests, supply requisitions, and equipment requisitions for the Dyeing and Finishing Lab.
Process samples for customers as required.
Direct and demonstrate the operation of various pieces of dyeing and finishing equipment for visitors.
Provide assistance to other staff.
Assist staff in the evaluation and analysis of products.
Maintain all assigned dyeing and finishing equipment; assist in ordering machinery parts and in setting up machinery.
Provide technical expertise in the area of dyeing and finishing.
Respond to customer questions and needs related to the dye lab area of expertise.
Establish and maintain industry contacts.
Stay current on latest trends and technology related to the position and responsibility.
Manage the operation of the dye lab.
Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Work a flexible schedule to accommodate customers.
Demonstrate excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Assist in various Center projects as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required.
Relevant associate degree from a regionally accredited institution preferred.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
At least five years' experience in the area of expertise required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Walking, stooping, kneeling, bending, and overhead reaching required.
Must be able to climb and crawl around machinery.
Exposure to typical elements associated with a textile manufacturing and lab environment.
