Responsibilities
• Maintenance and repair of all electrical systems and equipment in a safe, efficient manner. • Carries out fault finding and diagnosis of problems affecting plant and systems. • Performs breakdown repairs whenever required. • Shows initiative in identifying opportunities to improve plant and machinery performance. • Assists in preparing and submitting requirements for spares. • Assists Maintenance Supervisor to identify maintenance and shutdown priorities. • Develops procedures to control the effective utilization of electrical, instrument & Programable Logic Controller (PLC) systems. • Installs and maintains electrical, instrument and PLC systems including up to Motor Control Center (MCC) units. • Provides technical support for all users. • Provides PLC programming modifications to improve process safety & production. • Provides after hour "On-call" support for plant on emergency basis. • Participates in new & existing process development support and Safety Hazard Reviews. • Drives failure analysis of instrument & electrical equipment and implements reliability improvement action items. • Tracks and coordinates execution of work orders for both electrical reliability and Process Safety Controls/Process Safety Management (PSC/PSM) compliance on electrical/instrument systems. • Develops instrument maintenance and reliability skills throughout the maintenance organization. • Implements Best Practices for maintenance of control and distribution equipment. • Drives the maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with reliability requirements. • Promotes a strong belief that all jobs can be performed safely and that no job is worth doing that would risk the health, safety, or welfare of the plant employees or community. • Locates and corrects problems (troubleshoots) to restore equipment to operation and design specifications. • Works with software in programmable controllers and distributed controller systems (DCS) to make bypasses and troubleshoots. • Calibrates equipment to ensure accurate measurement. • Disassembles repairs and reassembles equipment/components to replace worn or defective ones. • Locks and tags and tries equipment to make it inoperable and safe to work on. • Uses the computer system to create work orders, obtain information of equipment spare parts and create historical. • Performs predictive and preventive maintenance task in the electrical/instrument arena. • Ability to work with computer programs such as Windows, Microsoft utilities program (Excel, Words, etc.) and availability to continuous improvement in the skill. • Works in reliability, especially in the principle of defect elimination. • Inspects and tests new motors to accept them for installation operation. • In case of operational motor, tests and replaces, if necessary, as per PSM principles. • Measures, cuts, bend and install tubing, conduit, and associated equipment to provide it for use. • Installs electrical bypass (with authorization) to operate selected equipment. • Requisitions materials, parts and supplies to have them available to do the work. • Assists with rigging to move heavy equipment. • Runs electrical wire to provide power or communication from source to equipment. • Solves wiring or boards connections to make permanent connections. • Communicates with resources, operators, mechanics, and engineers to exchange job information. • Writes shift logs, maintenance records, inspection sheets, calibration sheets, among others, to communicate and create historical records. • Writes and reviews maintenance procedures to provide them for use by operators and mechanics. • Replaces lamps, ballast, fixtures, photocells, etc. to provide correctly to operation. • Cleans work areas to maintain site housekeeping standards.

• Must be able to work both day AND night shift. • Good interpersonal skills. • Ability to work in a team environment. • Good problem solving and time-management skills. • Highly motivated, flexible and self-starter. • Ability to work over regular hours. • Associate degree (AD) in Electronics, Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent form two-year college or technical school; and a minimum of three years of experience in the area; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. • Basic knowledge of oral/written skills in English and Spanish. • Interacts with Area management, Resources, Operations Technicians, Contractors, Engineers and Suppliers. • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. • Ability to apply concepts such as factions, ratios and proportions to practical situations. • Ability to represent data in graphic arts. • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule forms. • In addition to the skills listed above, computer skills and well as a PLC and DCS knowledge are desirable. • Able to work in teams and to continuously improve day to day activities.
Compensation
$31.00 - 33.00 plus differential for night hours
