Responsibilities:

Are you an experienced leader passionate about maintaining excellence in building operations and enhancing the resident experience? As the Director of Facilities, you will oversee the facilities management and maintenance operations for a portfolio of residential properties, supporting Regional Managers and Regional Vice Presidents in MA, CT, DE, PA, MD, NC, SC, VA, GA, and TN.

 

Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, you will provide oversight, direction, and leadership to effectively manage a property portfolio. You will play a critical role in leading a facilities team on a large portfolio of affordable properties ensuring compliance with company policies and Equal Employment Opportunity, Fair Housing, and Human Rights statutes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage and participate in HUD REAC/NSPIRE inspection preparation including working with Facility Managers and site-based employees, coordinating staff and vendor resources, and completing work side by side with site staff.
  • Working closely with Facility Managers and the Director of Facilities, manage the deployment of Maintenance Supervisor to support REAC preparation, temporarily filling in for vacant site-based positions, repairs, and project assignments.
  • Assist Facilities team with organizing, executing & monitoring Capital Projects through completion.
  • Support property losses by managing mitigation and restoration activities for property insurance claims and losses below insurance deductibles.
  • Monitor and provide assistance ensuring compliance with Federal, State & Municipal inspection requirements, codes, and regulations.
  • Provide technical expertise & assistance to solve MEP, building envelope & related building components/system deficiencies.
  • Monitor, provide direction and assistance to ensure properties are actively curing violations associated with Authority Having Jurisdiction.
  • Monitor, provide direction and assistance on environmental health and safety to ensure the site staff team is adhering to environmental requirements (ACM’s, LBP’s, UST’s, Moisture).
  • Provide feedback on employee performance in association with the effective management of their assigned responsibilities. Including, supporting talent acquisition efforts for site-based maintenance.
  • Work in partnership with Construction on property rehabs including rehab scope review, project coordination with site staff, quality assurance of work performed, punch list oversite, and development handoff.
    Support region on special projects and strategies as assigned by the Director of Facilities.

COMPENSATION RANGE

  • $100K - $135K per year
  • Plus annual performance bonus
  • This position is Exempt, meaning ineligible for overtime pay

Compensation for this position is dependent on a variety of factors, including individual qualifications and geographical location. The range provided is intended to offer a general guideline and may vary based on these factors.

 

Final compensation offers will be determined based on a comprehensive assessment of the candidate's background and the specific requirements of the role.

Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of progressive responsibility in facilities management, with at least 5+ years in a leadership role overseeing multi-site or multi-state portfolios.
  • Extensive experience in affordable housing and deep knowledge of HUD-REAC/NSPIRE inspections, with a demonstrated ability to implement large-scale compliance and operational strategies.
  • Proven track record in managing large teams and cross-functional collaboration at the regional or national level, including recruitment, mentoring, and professional development of staff.
  • Experience with capital planning, budgeting, and high-level project management, including managing large-scale rehabilitation projects and vendor contracts.
  • Strong strategic and operational leadership capabilities, with experience in aligning facilities operations to organizational goals.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Certifications like CAMT, CFM, PMP, or advanced OSHA certifications would enhance the qualification profile.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Bilingual Spanish is a plus.
