Nature of Work
This is a part-time position in the Department of Human Services. An employee in this class will work in all aspects of the early childhood learning center assisting the Early Childhood Educator, or designee.
Essential Functions
Work includes, but is not limited to: assisting with planning and conducting daily activities for pre-school children; planning teaching methods and techniques for pre-school children; maintaining an orderly physical environment conducive to optimal growth and development of children; attending staff and parent meetings; assisting in observing and reporting individual and group behavior, and encouraging early intervention, if needed; ensuring the safety of all children; recording and reporting any incidences or injuries; assisting with performing annual assessments for the Early Learning Coalition School Readiness Program; assisting Early Childhood Educator with maintaining all up to date daily classroom logs and implementing weekly lesson plans; attending mandatory in-service trainings; assisting Early Childhood Educator with the Child Care Food Program delivery and record keeping; conducting diaper changing by carrying a child of to changing table following standard procedures for proper diaper changing and hand washing; maintaining a clean and sanitary environment; reporting any suspicions of abuse to the administration and to DCF immediately, if detected; maintaining common areas, toys, and educational materials disinfected according to CDC Guidelines; following proper health and sanitation procedures established by the Florida Department of Health; and performing related work as required.
Minimum Requirements
Some (6 months - 2 years) experience working in a child care facility is desirable. All required trainings must be maintained valid throughout employment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
The Fire Extinguisher Training must be possessed after 30 days of employment. In addition, the Florida Department of Children and Families 10 hours or 1.0 Continued Education Unit (CEU) of in-service training must be completed on a yearly basis during the states fiscal year beginning July 1 and ending June 30.
Must comply with all background screening requirements set forth by the State of Florida Statute Chapter 435.04, and any other applicable laws.
