Job Summary To educate and lead the early childhood workforce by preparing early care and education teachers to obtain and maintain ECAC teacher certification.

Essential Functions

 

ECAC Coordination

  • Develops and updates training for the ECAC
  • Ensures all trainings meet the TPI guidelines per LDOE
  • Leads training candidates in the Early Childhood Ancillary Teaching Certificate program
  • Complete an orientation with directors and candidates before each new cohort
  • Update syllabus for each new cohort and assist in putting it together
  • Provides additional training sessions on Saturdays and evenings for students needing additional assistance
  • Set up applied practice assignments for candidates that relate to the training to assist in building the trainees' skills using the CLASS model as a guide.
  • Check assignments in Canvas and mark as completed
  • Update student accounts in Canvas
  • Keep a record of all completed online assignments and record them in NDS by WLS
  • Develop recruitment and orientation events for prospective new program
  • Create applied practice events along with rubrics for each cohort
  • Leads group and individual onboarding and intake sessions for new program
  • Support the progression of participants enrolled in ECAC training
  • Develop and maintain a positive, supportive relationship with the candidate's growth through the mentoring/ coaching process.
  • Facilitate teachers' learning through positive and constructive
  • Provide follow-up support to the candidate following any form of coaching for the purpose of increasing the implementation of information and the transfer of skills into
  • Completes monthly monitoring reports or coaching logs for assigned visits and submits them according to timelines for the purpose of meeting program requirements for tracking and monitoring.
  • Manage a caseload of training participants, ensuring they stay on track to earn their CDA certification.
  • Develop and maintain Canvas modules and Google Classroom Applied Practice assignments and grades.
  • Plans and develops the ECAC graduation for each cohort
  • Assist candidates with compiling their CDA portfolios as needed
  • Leads ECAC team to discuss issues, concerns, ideas, and the development of the upcoming calendar and changes if any
  • Conduct CLASS observations which includes scoring and debriefing for assigned candidates and follow up with coaching visit.
  • Supports candidates with the completion of their assessment fee applications, accounts in the CDA portal, and submission of their CDA certificate
  • Ensure training room is returned to its original position after completion of trainings

Budget & Fiscal

  • Responsible for daily budget oversight. Oversees coding of all payments and reviewing detailed weekly transaction reports and budget comparison
  • Identifies and pursues potential additional funding sources, grants, and local monies to support program activities as (example: the raffling off of a laptop)
  • Maintains and oversees all internal accounting systems to insure accountability for program income, supplies, expenditures, inventory control and risk
    • Submit documentation to Pathways for payment: (a) submit spread sheet with an update of candidates that are in the program including center name and if candidates at center (b)Pathways and LDOE validates roster, (c) Pathways sends award letters which are to be signed bycandidates and resubmitted to Pathways. (d) Pathways will send a billing for invoicing. (e) complete invoice document and return to Pathways
  • Reviews and authorizes all expenditures and disbursements before submission to Louisiana fiscal department.
  • Participates in monthly fiscal meetings with Children's Coalition Supervision

Supervision And Training – Program Director

  • Conducts regularly scheduled staff meetings (i.e., all staff meetings monthly).
  • Provides guidance to staff directly and indirectly supervised in the areas of staffing patterns, job descriptions, performance standards, job priorities,
  • Recruits and discharges staff in partnership with the managers/specialists/supervisors after discussion with ED, Human Resources and following federal guidelines and Children's Coalition for Northeast Louisiana Employee Handbook and Human Resources Policies and Procedures.
  • Sets goals, monitors, provides feedback, and evaluates management team staff annually according to position description, performance standards and agency

Other Responsibilities

  • Promote participation in group trainings and participation in Child Care Connections Director Meetings
  • Respond to requests for information and inquiries about what constitutes quality child care from the community
  • Promote all services offered to child care providers by Child Care Connections
  • Maintain and update the designated data systems including but not limited to NDS by WLS at the completion of group training, technical assistance (TA) and/or Practice Based Coaching (PBC) within the timelines assigned
  • Assist with setting up special events for outreach to providers
  • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with child care providers and serve as a role model of continual training and professionalism
  • Attend appropriate meetings/trainings
  • Be available to participate and travel to state and local early care & education functions

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor, or Master Degree in the field of early childhood development, child development or education, or related field
  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of child development based on education, training, and experience working directly with children in a high-quality child care setting
  • Experience in and comprehensive knowledge of the features necessary to operate a high-quality child care center
  • Eligible for Pathways Trainer Certification, Teaching Strategies GOLD inter-rater reliability, and CLASS reliability in the Infant, Toddler and Pre-K tools
  • Ability to build partnerships with all early childhood programs Early Childhood Community Network Lead Agency programs
  • Knowledge of Canvas, Zoom, Google Classroom and Google Docs its usage is preferred
  • Positive interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Well-organized, motivated and able to work independently
  • Ability to successfully conduct high-quality training sessions for adults on the high quality early care and education of young children
  • Ability to manage time, work without direct supervision, and contribute to team atmosphere
  • Competent in using computer technology and software

Working conditions

  • Work is typically in an office setting or early learning
  • Work hours are typically during normal business hours of 8:00 am – 4:30 Some evening and weekend work may be required for events.
