POSITION DESCRIPTION

JOB CLASSIFICATION TITLE: Early Childhood Education Site Supervisor

REPORTS TO: Director, Programs – Headstart

DEPARTMENT: Headstart

JOB TYPE: Full Time

OBJECTIVES: Reporting to the Director, Programs – The EC Education Site Supervisor is responsible for providing direct supervision to the Department of Early Childhood, Early Head Start, and Head Start teachers. This role oversees the monitoring and implementation of federal and local standards as well as the administration and development of program operations. The Site Supervisor acts as a liaison between the programs and the policy council, board and community; and ensures the educational requirements are being met. In addition, the Site Supervisor informs HS Director, Operations, and Admin of any health and safety concerns within the facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide leadership and guidance to staff in the assessment, intervention, and delivery of services to children and families.
2. Support, facilitate, and continuously improve program services in alignment with Head Start Board and Policy Council–approved policies.
3. Lead program planning, organization, staffing, and daily operations to ensure high-quality service delivery.
4. Participate in the recruitment, hiring, supervision, and evaluation of EHS/HS staff, including annual formal and regular informal performance reviews.
5. Maintain appropriate program staffing structures, always including compliance with required adult–child ratios.
6. Develop, implement, and evaluate EHS/HS home and center-based policies and procedures, recommending updates as needed.
7. Design and oversee technical assistance, training, and professional development plans based on identified staff and program needs.
8. Manage fiscal operations, budgeting, statistical data, and reporting in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
9. Ensure implementation of Headstart performance standards and integration of multicultural principles into program practices.
10. Collaborate with internal leadership teams and community partners to support comprehensive services, outreach, recruitment, and family engagement.
11. Fulfill mandated reporting responsibilities and intervene in the prevention of child abuse and neglect, in accordance with federal and state law.

SPECIFIC SKILLS:

• Strong knowledge of EHS/HS performance standards, child development, curriculum, assessment, and home-and-center-based models.
• Expertise in federal, state, and local regulations, policy development, monitoring, and mandated reporting requirements.
• Strong interpersonal skills to model effective communication, collaborate with leadership teams, and engage families and community partners.
• Ability to implement multicultural principles, conduct outreach and recruitment, and build strong community relationships.
• Skilled in identifying training needs, developing technical assistance plans, and supporting continuous professional growth.
• Ability to lead, coach, supervise, and evaluate staff with ensuring high-quality service delivery and appropriate staffing ratios.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have leadership experience.
• Master’s degree in early childhood education.
• New York State Certification in Early Childhood Education B-2nd and/or N -6 Certification.
• Experience in human service program management, including program planning, operations and evaluation and use of management information systems.
• Experience with budgeting, fiscal oversight, reporting, data tracking, and managing daily program operations.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Salary commensurate with experience. Northside offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Salary range: $85,000 - $95,000.
