Our Early Childhood Educators provide quality care and supervision to children in a classroom setting with minimal guidance, ensuring the safety of the children at all times. You'll work with a co-teacher providing daily communication to parents and assisting in the classroom's maintenance to ensure a healthy, safe, nurturing environment that is child-centered and positive.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provide quality care to children:
  • Full responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of all children within the assigned group to include but not limited to feeding, napping, toileting, changing diapers, lifting children, getting down to child's level, and sitting on the floor with children.
  • Handle all aspects of food preparation including clean-up of dishes, tables, and floor areas. This includes preparing bottles for infants.
  • Provide supervision and guide behavior.
  • Plan daily and weekly individual and group activities that are developmentally appropriate for children within an environment that allows and encourages choices for children. (e.g. large motor activities, outdoor activities).
  • Complete and maintain records including, but not limited to, attendance records, observations, lesson plans, assessments, portfolios and child whereabouts.
  1. Provide a healthy and safe environment:
  • Keep children within sight and sound at all times.
  • Maintain a classroom tone that is positive, non-stressed and of mutual respect for the child and co-workers.
  • Look for signs of illness or communicable disease that would prevent a child from remaining in care and bring it to director(s) attention.
  • Report all suspected cases of child abuse including sexual abuse, neglect, emotional or physical abuse to the Director or Assistant Director
  • Complete and maintain medical forms and accident report forms.
  1. Work with co-teachers and leaders:
  • Communicate effectively with co-teachers and directors.
  • Share classroom responsibilities and room duties to maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.
  • Assign responsibilities to student staff.
  1. Work with families:
  • Communicate with parents regarding a variety of issues including daily activities and general concerns of the child.
  • Keep connected with parents via classroom cell phone.
  • Participate in parent/teacher conferences, scheduled twice per year.
  1. Participate in state required training, including mandated reporter, abusive head trauma, CPR and enroll in 15 hours of in-service training per year.

  2. Attend evening staff meetings and family events.

  3. Perform any and all related duties as required or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Enrolled in or completion of Early Childhood I and II

Some related experience

Ability to plan and organize activities

Strong interpersonal skills

Ability to demonstrate commitment to providing quality childcare

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Registry Level 12+ on WIRegistry.org

a bachelor's degree in any field of study plus 3 early childhood classes if degree is not in an education field
