Note:All staff are hired by Milford School District rather than a specific building. Final placement is subject to change based on district staffing needs.

Position Summary: The certified Early Childhood Exceptional Teacher will plan and deliver standards-based, developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with Board-approved and State curriculum; create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment; differentiate instruction and provide accommodations and modifications to meet diverse student needs; participate in the IEP process; assess and document student progress; communicate effectively with families and colleagues; comply with district policies and state regulations; engage in required training and ongoing professional development; and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Possess or be eligible for a valid Delaware teaching license and required certification as Early Childhood Teacher in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1520 and
  • Additional required certification in Early Childhood Exceptional Children Special Education Teacher 14 Del. C. § 1570

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver standards-based instruction aligned with Board-approved and State curriculum.
  • Develop and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment conducive to effective learning supporting preschool-aged students.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques tailored to the needs and abilities of students.
  • Provide accommodations and modifications for students with diverse needs, including students with different classifications, and implement instructional strategies to ensure access to curriculum.
  • Participate as a member of the IEP team to support individualized education plans and collaborate on goals, progress monitoring, and services.
  • Assess student academic and behavioral progress on a regular basis; maintain accurate, thorough records; complete progress and grade reports as scheduled; and provide prompt, specific, and constructive feedback.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior and convey appropriately high academic expectations.
  • Communicate effectively and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and student support teams regarding academic, behavioral, and social-emotional progress.
  • Cooperate with colleagues in planning instructional goals, objectives, methods, and instructional materials, and assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other resources.
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, Board policies, contractual obligations, and State law, while taking reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Participate in State and District training, possibly including Office of Childcare Licensing and Office of Early Learning requirements, and attend faculty meetings as required.
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth through workshops, seminars, courses, Professional Learning Communities, and coaching or feedback from administrators and peers.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and the community.
  • Demonstrate professionalism through ethical conduct, dependable attendance, and a positive professional image.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment: Ten-month (10) full-time employee.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually according to the Board's policy on professional personnel evaluation.
