DESCRIPTION
Madison District Public Schools is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teacher to provide high-quality instruction and specialized support to preschool-aged children with disabilities. The ideal candidate will create an engaging, inclusive learning environment that promotes each child's academic, social-emotional, communication, and developmental growth while working closely with families and multidisciplinary teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an Early Childhood Special Education (ZS) endorsement or eligibility to obtain the endorsement
- Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education compliance requirements
- Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
- Experience working with preschool-aged children with diverse learning and developmental needs is preferred
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, individualized instruction aligned with each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Conduct ongoing assessments and monitor student progress to inform instructional decisions.
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliant IEPs in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, school psychologists, social workers, and general education staff to support student success.
- Foster positive relationships with families through regular communication and active participation in the IEP process.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that supports positive behavior and social-emotional development.
- Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions to meet the diverse needs of young learners.
- Maintain accurate student records and complete required documentation in a timely manner.
- Participate in professional learning, staff meetings, and district initiatives.
