Early Childhood Special Education Teacher

The Two Rivers Public School District seeks qualified candidates for the position of Early Childhood Special Education Teacher (3K). The position will be available starting with the 2026-27 academic year. This position plays a critical role in laying the foundation for lifelong learning by fostering children''s curiosity, confidence, and development through high-quality early childhood education.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor''s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Valid teaching license/certification in Early Childhood Special Education.
• Knowledge of child development, early learning standards, and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Experience working with young children in educational settings.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Employment Responsibilities: The Early Childhood teacher creates safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environments that support the cognitive, social-emotional, physical, language, and adaptive development of young children by planning and implementing developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with early learning standards. They foster positive relationships with children, families, and staff. These services are categorized as follows:

Instruction and Learning

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities that promote growth across all developmental domains.
• Create a classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, play, and active learning.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs, interests, and abilities of children.
• Integrate literacy, math, science, social studies, social-emotional learning, and fine and gross motor activities into daily instruction.
• Utilize ongoing assessment data to inform instructional planning and monitor child progress.
• Support language development and early communication skills through meaningful interactions and experiences.

Classroom Environment and Behavior Support

• Establish and maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Develop consistent routines and expectations that promote independence and self-regulation.
• Implement positive behavior support strategies and social-emotional learning practices.
• Supervise children at all times to ensure their safety and well-being.

Assessment and Documentation

• Conduct developmental screenings and ongoing assessments.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and developmental milestones.
• Prepare reports and documentation as required by program, district, state, or federal guidelines.
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and collaborate on goals and services when applicable.

Family Engagement

• Build positive partnerships with families as essential members of the educational team.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding children''s development, progress, and classroom activities.
• Encourage family involvement and provide resources to support learning at home.
• Participate in family conferences, home visits (if applicable), and family engagement events.

Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities

• Collaborate with colleagues, specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrators to support student success.
• Participate in professional development opportunities and staff meetings.
• Maintain compliance with licensing regulations, health and safety requirements, and program policies.
• Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and commitment to continuous improvement.
