Early Educational Outreach Assistant

The College of Agriculture, Life and Environmental Sciences (CALES) offers educational programs for 6th to 10th graders in Southern Arizona and parts of Phoenix. The Early Educational Outreach role involves presenting educational sessions in classrooms and at events to inspire youth, especially to those who are first-generation, to consider a rewarding career in STEM. Responsibilities include conducting STEM and other demonstrations relevant to STEM careers in agriculture, life sciences and environmental sciences. The position will focus on helping to increase higher education readiness and access. While prior experience is preferred, it's not required. Candidates should possess a keen interest in STEM, enjoy working with students in grades 6-10, and excel in public speaking. Effective communication skills and the capability to convey technical concepts in a manner suitable for different age groups are essential. Working hours fluctuate based on school and community event schedules. Typically, events take place during school hours, Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with occasional evening or weekend commitments. Further help on this page can be found by clicking here.

Member Duties : Create presentations for 6th\u00bf\u2013 10th\u00bfgrade classrooms interested in learning more about career opportunities associated with agriculture, life & environmental Sciences. Create age-appropriate demonstrations for community events, career days, and early outreach college fairs, specific to agriculture, life, and environmental sciences. Create partnerships with local middle schools and high schools. Maintain a database of developed partnerships. Support on and off campus early educational outreach initiatives and programs. Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required. Must hold valid driver's license and car required for local travel to schools.
