Momentum PTN is hiring a Kitchen Assistant. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will perform routine service level duties to assist with food preparation, serving, and clean up at our Early Head Start program located in Torrance. Kitchen Assistant Essential Responsibilities:
Promotes a friendly, comfortable, and safe environment
Respects and promotes the right of individuals
Follows a menu provided by the food contractor to prepare and serve meals to children
Pays close attention to dietary accommodations required for specific children in the preparation of meals
Takes and records the temperature of all food delivered by the food contractor
Follows all food and safety policies procedures in handling food
Properly labels, covers, and stores unused food after each meal
Cleans food preparation areas and equipment used daily
Assists in the inventory and stocking of food products and supplies
Delivers the meals and snacks to each classroom daily
Performs other duties as assigned to meet department and/or business needs
Kitchen Assistant Qualification:
Must be 18 years of age
High School diploma or GED; preferred
One (1) year experience in meal preparation; required
Safe Serve certification; required
Working knowledge of food handling requirements
Ability to follow directions, both written and oral
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
Communicate and work professionally and cooperatively with others
Successfully pass all post-offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, TB screening, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
Ability to run, push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, and lift up to 25 lbs.
