If you're passionate about and find fulfillment in elevating the early learning experience, please consider this unique opportunity! Join our "community" and enrich the lives of our youngest learners and their families!

About Urban Ventures: Urban Ventures is a faith-based nonprofit with the mission to educate children, strengthen their families, and build a healthy community. The organization primarily serves the Central and Phillips neighborhoods of South Minneapolis—an area rich in culture and diversity—with the overarching goal to prepare and send every child in the neighborhood to college or some form of postsecondary education.

About the Program: The Cornwell Early Learning Center is a program of Urban Ventures that provides and supports children ages 6 weeks to pre-kindergarten with early learning to develop their cognitive functions: how they think, explore, and figure things out. With an emphasis on social and emotional development, they help children develop the interests and skills that they need as they continue to grow.

Working Hours: Regular working hours Monday through Friday – a variable 8-hour schedule between the hours of 7am to 6pm, with flexibility for 3-4 later evenings and/or weekend work each year. This position shares responsibility for opening and closing the Center; on a pre-determined and rotating basis, typically a minimum of 3 per week is required.

Position Summary: The Center’s director will develop a market-leading early childhood learning experience and collaborate closely with other Urban Ventures program leaders to provide access to everything the organization has to offer youth and families. The director must bring an entrepreneurial mindset to this position and feel comfortable executing a business model that includes both market-rate as well as subsidized-fee components for 80+ children.

The director must be deeply committed to management best-practices, teacher training and development, creative problem-solving, and working in a collaborative manner to achieve ambitious goals. Additionally, the director will supervise two complimentary family service programs, Siempre Padres and Me and My Baby.

Primary Responsibilities: The director will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and quality of education for all in the Center’s care. This role is directly accountable for overall operational performance in accordance with industry best-practices, including curriculum oversight, staff and facilities management, financial management, legal compliance, and long-range planning. In short, the director ensures that the needs of every student and family are met with excellence.

A member of the Senior Directors at Urban Ventures: This role will be part of the Senior Director Team at Urban Ventures, the team responsible for overseeing and managing the organization's programs. In addition to direct program management, the Senior Director provides leadership, supervision, and accountability for assigned directors, ensuring high-quality execution and alignment with organizational priorities.
