Primary Responsibilities:
Support, develop, and coach Early Childhood Special Education Teachers and Paraprofessionals on content knowledge and skills for effective teaching and learning of young children with special needs.
Design and deliver professional learning for the Early Learning and School Readiness Early Childhood Special Education Program.
Provide professional learning opportunities by modeling and facilitating instruction with special education teachers and paraprofessionals.
Demonstrate practical application of research based, learner-centered instructional strategies including the Quality-Plus Instructional Strategies.
Demonstrate content knowledge and professional growth.
Engage in continual learning to deepen content and pedagogical knowledge in early childhood special education (current and emerging trends/needs).
Develop and improve knowledge through professional development, conferences, publications, and collegial networks.
Support local schools in the district.
Provide support and assistance to principals, assistant principals, department chairs, and other appropriate personnel who create and implement interventions and extensions in special education programs.
Support special education classroom teachers with effective classroom instruction, ongoing assessments, and effective classroom management.
Provide information to appropriate personnel regarding current research, knowledge, and trends in special education.
Provide support for schools in writing and leading effective IEPs based on data and that meet compliance requirements.
Model student support and provide guidance in classrooms as appropriate.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, negotiate stairs, climb ladders, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear, manipulate tools and small items with hands, and lift and transport up to 50 pounds over short distances. The employee is required to operate a motor vehicle in performance of duties. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision. The employee may be subjected to a wide range of ambient temperature and humidity conditions while working on equipment under varying conditions including overhead work and work in confined spaces. Potential hazards of this position include working with electricity, working with heat and noise producing machinery and equipment, working on elevated equipment using ladders or other lifting devices, and use of chemicals and solvents.
