The Clintonville Public School District is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Early Literacy Coach. Funded for two years through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) Early Literacy Coaching Program, this role is designed for a collaborative instructional leader.

In this non-evaluative position, the candidate will partner with 5K-3rd grade teachers and school administrators to strengthen science-based literacy instruction. The successful candidate will drive student success by building educator capacity through job-embedded professional learning, classroom observations, data analysis, and supportive instructional coaching cycles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a comprehensive 5K-3 literacy audit using DPI''s provided template
  • Develop and implement an early literacy coaching plan, including professional learning and individual or small group coaching cycles aligned to science-based early literacy instruction
  • Coach individual teachers or small groups through continuous improvement cycles
  • Conduct non-evaluative classroom observations to collect data on adult instructional practice and inform coaching and professional development priorities
  • Model or teach side-by-side with teachers to strengthen use of specific evidence-based literacy strategies
  • Meet bi-weekly with the building administrator to analyze progress data and align coaching work with school improvement goals
  • Collaborate with school and district leaders to refine a multi-level system of support (MLSS) for early literacy
  • Maintain detailed coaching logs, professional learning records, and monthly progress documentationis equired by DPI during grant period
  • Identify and address barriers in Universal instruction in reading that contribute to achievement disparities
  • Ensure the confidentiality of students, teachers, administrators, and families throughout all coaching work

Additional qualifications:

  • State of Wisconsin Elementary Teacher Licensure in Reading #1317/5017
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding and application of the Common Core State Standards for ELA; particularly for grades 5K-3
  • Experience with Multi-Level Systems of Support (MLSS)
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to team-based planning
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks, maintain records, and meet deadlines

Salary and benefits are determined by the Board of Education as per negotiated salary terms.
