Earthmoving Equipment Operator — Civil Construction

Step onto a project at first light and help set the pace for the day. As our Earthmoving Equipment Operator, you’ll pair skill with situational awareness to keep excavation, grading, and sitework moving safely and efficiently.

A day in the life

• Kickoff: Review the plan of the day, study site drawings/blueprints, and align with the foreman on priorities and production targets.
• Machine time: Operate excavators, bulldozers, and backhoes to perform excavation, site prep, and precise grading.
• Safety first: Follow all site rules, traffic patterns, and lockout/tagout procedures; actively maintain a hazard-free work zone.
• Upkeep: Conduct pre- and post-shift inspections, complete routine maintenance, and document equipment condition.
• Team coordination: Communicate with crew members and supervisors to keep work on schedule and within budget.
• Quality + records: Track equipment hours and maintenance, and promptly report malfunctions or safety concerns to management.

What you bring

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant equipment certifications are a plus.
• Hands-on experience running heavy equipment in construction or industrial environments.
• Thorough knowledge of safety practices for heavy machinery operation.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
• Clear, professional communication and a collaborative mindset.
• Physical stamina and strength suited to outdoor, equipment-intensive work.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
