Earthwork Modeling & Takeoff Technician (AGTEK)

About the Opportunity

A well-established heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Earthwork Modeling & Takeoff Technician to join its preconstruction team. This individual will play a critical role in developing accurate earthwork models, performing quantity takeoffs, and supporting estimating efforts on a variety of heavy civil and site development projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong AGTEK experience who enjoys working with cutting-edge technology and collaborating with estimating and operations teams to ensure successful project planning and execution.

Responsibilities

  • Develop accurate existing and proposed surface models using AGTEK software.
  • Perform detailed earthwork quantity takeoffs, including cut/fill analysis and material calculations.
  • Interpret civil plans, grading plans, specifications, and CAD drawings.
  • Prepare accurate estimates for excavation, grading, utilities, paving, and site development scopes.
  • Review construction documents and identify discrepancies or potential conflicts.
  • Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and field personnel throughout the preconstruction process.
  • Assist with value engineering and alternative construction approaches.
  • Generate reports and supporting documentation for estimating and project teams.
  • Maintain organized project files and digital models.
  • Support machine control modeling and GPS-ready files when required.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, earthwork estimating, or construction modeling.
  • Proficiency with AGTEK software is required.
  • Experience reading and interpreting civil engineering and grading plans.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar CAD software preferred.
  • Understanding of earthwork calculations, cut/fill analysis, and site development construction.
  • Experience with heavy civil, excavation, grading, utilities, or sitework projects.
