Position Summary

The State University of New York at Geneseo Office of Admissions is seeking a self-motivated, results-oriented, equity-mindedindividual who has a demonstrated commitment to the values of a liberal arts education for an East Coast Regional Recruiter position.

Responsibilities for this position include actively recruiting and counseling prospective students, which includes students specifically from New York City metropolitan areas and the East Coast regions. Activities include, but are not limited to: effective correspondence with prospective students and other constituents including written and verbal communication through territory management, interviewing, and group presentations; substantial travel including high school visits, college fairs, and regional presentations; event planning; application assessment; representing the College and department at on- and off-campus events; and assisting with various projects in the office.

We especially encourage applications from individuals who can bring diverse cultural and ethnic perspectives and experiences to the campus and who can advise and mentor all members of our diverse student body.

Candidates are required to work alternative schedules during recruitment periods. Many of these responsibilities entail evening and weekend commitments. The applicant must live in the New York City area or be willing to relocate full-time to the area. This is a 12-month position.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree and be highly motivated, creative, flexible, detail-focused, and adaptable to changing environments.

Must demonstrate commitment and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents supporting campus and department missions.

Previous experience in higher education or related field. This can include work-study or internship experience.

Additional requirements include:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary

  • Candidates for this position must be legally allowed to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not offered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree

Professional or paraprofessional experience in admissions or commensurate experience in student life.

License/Certification

Valid NYS Driver's License
