East Hampton Housekeeper

Private family seeks an experienced, polished, and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join their established household team in East Hampton, New York. The successful candidate will work as part of a highly coordinated household operation, maintaining the residence to exacting standards and ensuring all principal and guest areas are consistently prepared, organized, and beautifully presented. This is an excellent long-term opportunity for a service-minded professional who understands the level of care, discretion, consistency, and attention to detail required within a high-end private residence.

This is a full-time, year-round position with a seasonally varying schedule. During quieter periods, the schedule is generally Monday through Friday; however, significant flexibility is required during the summer season and major holidays, including Thanksgiving and Christmas, as well as potentially Memorial Day and Labor Day. During peak periods, schedules may fall on any of the seven days of the week, with shifts varying based on household needs and occasionally requiring early starts or later evening hours. The household is thoughtful about maintaining a balanced schedule throughout the year, and the ideal candidate will be comfortably based within a manageable commuting distance of East Hampton.

The Housekeeper will work closely with the House Manager, housekeeping team, culinary staff, and broader household team to execute established household preferences and standards. Responsibilities extend beyond daily and detailed cleaning to include laundry, organization, inventory and stocking, principal and guest readiness, and food and beverage support. The ideal candidate is well-rounded, highly observant, and receptive to direction, with the ability to execute detailed instructions precisely and transition seamlessly between housekeeping, hospitality, and household support responsibilities as daily needs evolve.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Execute daily and detailed housekeeping throughout the residence, maintaining interiors to the highest standards and in accordance with the principals’ preferences

• Maintain principal and guest areas in a constant state of readiness, including detailed cleaning, deep cleaning, organization, and special projects as assigned

• Assist with household laundry, closet organization, storage areas, and the care and organization of staff spaces

• Support inventory management, stocking, and restocking while communicating household supply needs appropriately

• Provide polished hospitality support, including food and beverage service, simple food preparation, kitchen assistance, and support to the culinary team as needed

• Work collaboratively across the residence with the housekeeping and broader household team to ensure consistent standards and seamless daily service

• Follow established household procedures and detailed instructions with accuracy, discretion, and exceptional attention to detail

• Remain flexible to changing schedules, principal and guest presence, entertaining, holidays, and seasonal household requirements

• Additional housekeeping and household duties as needed and requested

Requirements:

• Strong command of the English language with excellent communication skills and the ability to receive, understand, and precisely execute detailed instructions

• Excellent references from both current and previous employers required

• Minimum 5+ years housekeeping experience within private estates or comparable luxury hospitality environments REQUIRED

• Strong knowledge of detailed housekeeping, deep cleaning, laundry, household organization, inventory management, and the proper care and presentation of a high-end residence

• Highly detail-oriented, organized, discreet, and service-minded with consistently high standards of presentation and professionalism

• Collaborative and team-oriented; Experience working effectively as part of an established household team highly preferred

• Adaptable and composed within a structured environment, with the flexibility to move between responsibilities and adjust to changing household priorities

• Flexible with scheduling and able to work weekends, evenings, and major holidays during peak residence periods as required

• Must maintain a reliable and sustainable commute to East Hampton, particularly during periods requiring early starts and late finishes

• Legally able to work in the United States

Compensation: $45–$50 per hour, commensurate with experience
