EC007 - Infant Nanny - Maine/Florida

Overview:

A warm, private family expecting their first child in January 2027 is seeking a professional, thoughtful, and adaptable nanny for a long-term position. The family generally spends November through May in the Fort Lauderdale area and the remainder of the year in Scarborough, Maine. They also travel domestically and internationally several times each year. The nanny must be comfortable accompanying the family between both homes and on additional trips.

The family has arranged dedicated postpartum support for the baby’s first six to eight weeks. The nanny will begin toward the end of that period to allow for a smooth transition.

The parents plan to be actively engaged in their child’s care and development. They welcome thoughtful observations and ideas from an experienced nanny and are seeking someone collaborative, receptive to feedback, and respectful of their parenting decisions.

The ideal candidate will be warm, calm, relaxed, and naturally involved, bringing an aunt-like presence to the household. As this is a relatively quiet home, the nanny should be comfortable working independently without requiring constant direction. They should anticipate needs, handle everyday challenges confidently, and adapt as the family’s needs evolve.

The family hopes to find someone who will engage meaningfully with their child, encourage learning, and stay for several years. They value reading, conversation, curiosity, outdoor activity, and age-appropriate exploration. Fluency in Spanish, Italian, Mandarin, or Japanese would be a strong advantage, particularly if the nanny is willing to speak that language consistently with the child.

Private accommodation will be provided in both locations. In Maine, the nanny will have a private bedroom and bathroom within the family’s home. In Florida, separate accommodation will be provided near the family’s residence. The family are also open a candidate with their own accomodation in Florida. A vehicle will also be available in both locations.

Responsibilities:

• Provide attentive, developmentally appropriate infant care
• Establish routines and support the child’s development
• Plan engaging activities, outings, reading, and outdoor play
• Prepare bottles, meals, and snacks for the child
• Manage the child’s laundry, nursery, belongings, and supplies
• Transport the child and coordinate activities as needed
• Prepare the child’s belongings for seasonal moves and family trips
• Accompany the family on domestic and international travel
• Assist with reasonable household tasks including errands, organization and light tidying,
• Maintain discretion and respect the family’s privacy

Qualifications:

• Professional childcare experience, including strong infant experience
• Warm, calm, proactive, and adaptable approach
• Excellent judgment and ability to solve everyday problems independently
• Thoughtful communicator who is receptive to feedback
• Fluency in Spanish, Italian, Mandarin, or Japanese strongly preferred
• Confident driver with a clean driving record preferred
• Strong swimmer preferred
• Enjoys an active, healthy, and outdoor lifestyle
• Genuine interest in making a long-term commitment

Requirements:

• Minimum of ten years of professional nanny experience
• Fluent English
• Current infant and child CPR and first-aid certification
• Excellent, verifiable professional references
• Willingness to work the full live-in weekend schedule and remain on call overnight
• Willingness to travel occasionally
• Legal authorization to work in the United States

Salary and Benefits:

• $40 per hour
• Private accommodation provided in Maine and Florida

• All work-related travel expenses covered
