Performs basic adult cardiac echocardiogram procedures to include 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler and 3-D LVEF Echocardiograms.
Assists with trans-esophageal echocardiograms.
In training for exercise stress and pharmacological stress echocardiograms and pediatric (congenital) echocardiograms.
Responsibilities
- Performs all basic adult cardiac echocardiogram procedures.
- Edits tracings, makes measurements and enters data into computer.
- Distinguishes between normal and abnormal cardiac findings.
- Performs cardiac sonographer duties to meet departmental needs including recognizing arrhythmias and implications of specific cardiac and related diagnoses to obtain optimal studies.
- Operates complex equipment accordingly.
- Performs adult echoes on-call.
- Participates in pediatric on-call echoes with the assistance of a pediatric back-up sonographer.
- Participates in exercise stress pharmacologic stress echo training.
- Participates in weekly imaging conference presentation.
- Facilitates patient flow within the section and maintains a pro-active approach in dealing with patient concerns.
- Participates in Quality Assurance and quality control programs.
- Ensures that equipment failures are reported and documented.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree from accredited cardiac ultrasound program or RDCS/RCS-eligible background with 1 year of cardiac echo experience.
- Proficient on all equipment in the lab within the first 3 months of employment.
Required Licensure/Certifications
- RDMS certification
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer - Adult Echocardiography (RDCS - AE) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
- Licensed by the Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy in the state of New Hampshire.
- BLS certification required upon hire.
