Overview Performs ultrasound examinations of the heart and vessels to assist the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the cardiovascular system.
Responsibilities Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
• Knowledgable of and selects appropriate ultrasound equipment for echocardiogram procedures. • Monitors sound waves for quality of ultrasonic patterns and documents on appropriate media to obtain a permanent record of examination. • Consults with physicians as required regarding collection of test data and critical test results. • Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. • Inspects equipment daily to ensure it is operating effectively. • Reports malfunctions. • Collaborates effectively with other members of healthcare team concerning pertinent patient information and interventions needed. • Completes other duties or tasks as assigned.
Qualifications Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required
Education/Licensure: High school graduate or GED required, completion of ultrasound program; RVS or RVT eligible preferred.
Experience: No previous experience required, but preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities: BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period. Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
