Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrates a commitment to professionalism in all interactions with patients, clients, physicians, facility staff and the community. • Seeks assistance and education from appropriate sources. • Participates in and contributes to departmental quality assurance program as demonstrated by participation at department staff meetings and active involvement in performance improvement projects. • Demonstrates customer service in all interactions that is compassionate, courteous, friendly, and helpful. • Demonstrates respect for privacy, diversity, and confidentiality in all interactions. • Demonstrates the ability to operate and maintain equipment to departmental standards. • Utilizes information channels for the receipt and dissemination of information, i.e., work orders, dietary orders, lab requisitions, meeting information, etc. • Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to job duties needed for documentation as required by accrediting and regulatory standards. • Demonstrates competence in performance of echocardiographic studies. • Performs echocardiographic studies considering the age-specific physiological, emotional, and cognitive needs of the patient. • Consistently performs quality Doppler and color Doppler Exams. • May acquire quality Stress Echo and Dobutamine images according to Physician and benchmark standards. • Maintains competence in all other procedures performed in the department. • Demonstrates understanding of cardiac disease processes in order to obtain complete acquisition of images for clinical diagnosis by the reading cardiologist. • Reports pertinent information or changes of patients condition to physician, nurse and/or supervisor/senior tech incorporating age-specific information. • Reports findings or concerns to reading physician for prompt interpretation. • Records preliminary interpretation of studies on patient worksheet incorporating age specific information. • Documents patient information and processes reports accurately and timely. • Notifies the reading cardiologist of any referral studies to be read. • Educates patients and/or patients family regarding procedures performed and communicates effectively with patient and/or family. • Maintains equipment including cleaning and disinfecting according to department procedure. • Identifies problems with equipment and notifies appropriate resources for diagnosis and repair. • Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required for the Position

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required

• Ability to perform quality and compete echocardiogram studies. • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. • Ability to work independently and with a team. • Demonstrated technical skills and judgment to function unsupervised. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. • Satisfactory completion of an accredited non-invasive cardiovascular training program, with a focus in echocardiography. • Satisfactory completion of a recognized course in arrhythmia detection. • 2 years current experience as a registered echocardiography. • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) required. • BLS/CPR certification required within one week of hire. AHA & ARC accepted.

Special Requirements

• Day and evening shifts with weekends & on-call as needed; must be flexible with scheduling to meet the needs of department. • Must be available to work in the case of a Hospital declared emergency.
