    Echocardiography (Echo) Ultrasound Technician

    Compensation: $30.10 – $43.06 per hour + $20,000 Sign-On Bonus

    Job Type: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Day Shift

    Schedule: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (with flexibility to work 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

    The Echo Ultrasound Technician performs diagnostic cardiac sonography examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment in various modes and techniques to locate, evaluate, and record critical anatomical, pathological, and functional data.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform comprehensive diagnostic procedures applying prescribed methods of ultrasound technique, producing high-quality images using Doppler, abdominal, or other cardiac/vascular modalities.
    • Select appropriate transducers and adjust equipment controls according to the specific organ to be examined, depth of field, and other clinical test specifications.
    • Explain procedures clearly to patients to ensure they are well-informed, comfortable, and at ease during the examination; assist with patient transport to and from the examination room.
    • Input test data and patient information into the computer system; prepare preliminary ultrasound reports for the reading physician to ensure accurate, timely medical records.
    • Assist physicians with ultrasound-guided biopsies and other invasive clinical procedures as required.
    • Maintain, calibrate, and monitor quality control on ultrasound equipment to ensure accuracy; provide a safe environment for administering contrast material and follow strict standard precautions using PPE.
    • Utilize knowledge of age-specific needs of patients and actively orient, train, and mentor new clinical staff members.


    Qualifications:

    • Graduate of an accredited school in Ultrasound Technology required. A Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field is preferred.
    • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) is required to perform echocardiograms. Must be registered in the specific ultrasound modality performed (e.g., vascular, general).
    • Current RDMS, or must be registry-eligible and fully registered within one year of eligibility.
    • Current Virginia state licensure or valid permit to practice medical imaging.
    • Minimum of 6 months of related work experience post-internship/externship is required.
    • 2+ years of experience as an Imaging/Ultrasound Technician is highly preferred.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within the first 90 days of employment.
    • Ability to perform active work requiring frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, and safely lifting/moving patients and/or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Strong critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
