Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Echo Technician (Echocardiographer) to join a leading healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing comprehensive echocardiographic studies, producing high-quality diagnostic images, and collaborating with cardiologists to support the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular conditions. This role requires excellent technical expertise, strong patient care skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality echocardiographic examinations, including:
- M-mode
- 2D Echocardiography
- Pulse-Wave Doppler
- Continuous-Wave Doppler
- Color Doppler
- Contrast Echocardiograms
- Stress Echocardiograms
- Complete all required measurements, calculations, and documentation accurately and promptly.
- Explain procedures to patients while ensuring their comfort, privacy, and safety.
- Assist cardiologists during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures as needed.
- Document examination findings in the electronic medical record.
- Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot echocardiography equipment.
- Maintain examination rooms with appropriate supplies and ensure a clean work environment.
- Participate in the education and training of students and new staff when assigned.
- Maintain compliance with departmental policies, quality standards, and patient safety protocols.
- Complete continuing education requirements to maintain professional credentials.
Required Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in Science preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of recent Echo Technician (Echocardiographer) experience required.
- Candidates must be local to the job location.
- Must be available to attend an in-person second-round interview.
Licensure & Certifications
- Current Echocardiography Registry required.
- Echocardiography Certificate required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of echocardiography equipment and cardiac imaging techniques.
- Ability to independently perform diagnostic echocardiographic procedures.
- Experience with stress echo and contrast echocardiography.
- Excellent communication and patient care skills.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cardiologists and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds routinely.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive hand movements throughout the shift.
- Ability to assist with patient positioning, lifting, and transfers.
- Good visual acuity, hearing, and manual dexterity to safely perform diagnostic procedures.
