Overview:

Performs echocardiograms on adult and pediatric inpatient/outpatients.

  • Independently performs high quality complex diagnostic echo ultrasound imaging procedures for patients, under the supervision of qualified physicians for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
  • Must be able to manage time in order to keep up with High patient volume. Utilize advanced knowledge to perform imaging procedures by producing, assessing, and evaluating ultrasound images and related data.
  • Exercise independent judgment in the interpretation and analysis of exams, and provide a preliminary diagnosis of the technical findings to the physician. Is compliant with mandatory education and health requirements.

Must be able to perform and understand pathology/hemodynamics for:

  • Echocardiograms
  • Echocardiograms with Bubble Study
  • TEE’s
  • Echo Stress Tests

 

Qualifications:

Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups Required

Education: GED or High School Diploma.

Education: Completion of a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer program.

 

Preferred: Previous experience in cardiac sonography  but not required- we provide a supportive environment for growth and learning.

 

Necessary Skills:

1. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and ultrasound physics.

2. Excellent interpersonal skills and customer/patient service, problem solving, time management and organizational skill, be a team player, excellent communication skills including telephone etiquette.

3. Ability to recognize life-threatening findings and notify physicians.

4. Ability to calculate test results.

5. Uses good body mechanics.

6. Maintain patient confidentiality.

7. Serves as patient advocate.

8. Good organizational skills basic computer data entry.

 

Required Licensure/Certifications:

BLS certification from the American Heart Association

RCS through CCI 

OR

 RCDS through ARDMS required within one (1) year of hire or transfer date.

Adult ECHO credentials through either ARDMS or CCI are required within 12 months of hire.

 

Amount of Experience: Less than one (1) year minimum.

Preferred Experience: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer.
