Overview: State Fair Community College is seeking a qualified instructor to teach courses in Economics, Data Analytics, and Microcomputer Applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in economic theory and principles, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with a particular emphasis on Excel. This position requires a commitment to student success, instructional excellence, and continuous improvement in course design and delivery. The ideal candidate will bring industry experience, innovative teaching strategies, and a commitment to student engagement and growth. This position is located on State Fair Community College's main campus in Sedalia, Missouri.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop and deliver engaging course content for courses in Principles of Macroeconomics and Principles of Microeconomics that align with program objectives and outcomes.
  • Develop and deliver course content for a Microcomputer Applications course covering Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong focus on Excel (formulas, data analysis, financial modeling) and data analytics.
  • Design hands-on learning activities that encourage problem-solving and critical thinking that is student-centered through various modalities, including in-person, online, and hybrid formats.
  • Provide constructive feedback on student projects and assignments.
  • Foster a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and advancements and incorporate relevant information into the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members on best practices and contribute to business program development.
  • Maintain accurate records of student grades and progress ensuring confidentiality of student records.
  • Maintain regular availability for student assistance during class time, host a minimum of 5 weekly office hours outside of class time, and be available Monday-Friday during contracted business hours
  • Engage in professional development to stay updated on advancements in business education and entrepreneurship.
  • Represent the program at community events, career fairs, and other outreach activities to promote the program and engage with potential students.
  • Serve on college committees and contribute to department activities as needed.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary for the function of the college.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Economics, or Master's degree in Business discipline with the ability to acquire 18 graduate hours in Economics within an agreed upon period of time after hire.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
  • Commitment to student success and the ability to support diverse learners.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and technological skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior community college teaching experience.
  • Experience with online and hybrid instruction, including the use of learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard).
  • Certifications in Microsoft Office applications or relevant business technologies.
  • Experience in curriculum development and instructional design.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional industry experience in business, entrepreneurship, or business education.
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging and interactive instructional materials.
  • Experience using technology to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Experience in entrepreneurship including business startup or management.

Leave Benefits

Vacation Accrual- Full-time Employees:

  • 4 hours per pay period: 0-5 years

  • Maximum accrual cap: 160 hours
  • Faculty are not eligible for vacation due to built-in contractual time off but have access to 2 personal days/year.

Sick Leave Accrual- Full-time Employees:
