    Contract Acute Care Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (ED)

    Location: Danville, VA Contract Type: Full-Time Contract Residency Requirement:Candidates must live within 60 miles of the facility to qualify.

    Overview

    We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse to join our partner facility in Danville, Virginia. This contract role is ideal for RNs who thrive in high-acuity, fast-paced environments and are committed to delivering exceptional patient care. You'll work alongside a dedicated clinical team focused on safety, collaboration, and strong patient outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide rapid, high-quality nursing care to patients experiencing emergent and acute medical conditions.
    • Perform triage, assessments, and critical interventions based on patient acuity.
    • Administer medications, treatments, and procedures according to ED protocols.
    • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care.
    • Monitor patient status, interpret clinical data, and adjust care plans as needed.
    • Document accurately and efficiently within the EMR system.
    • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
    • Maintain compliance with all safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.

    Requirements

    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Virginia.
    • Must live within 60 miles of the facility to qualify for this contract role.
    • Minimum 1–2 years of recent Emergency Department experience in an acute care setting.
    • Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA preferred).
    • Strong critical thinking, communication, and rapid-response skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, high-acuity ED environment.
    • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).

    Preferred Qualifications

    • TNCC, ENPC, or other emergency specialty certifications.
    • Experience in trauma or high-volume ED settings.
    • Strong ability to manage multiple patients and shifting priorities.

    Schedule & Compensation

    • Full-time contract hours; shifts may include days, nights, weekends, or rotating schedules based on department needs.
    • Competitive hourly compensation based on experience and specialty.
    • Opportunities for contract extensions depending on performance and facility needs.
