Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse Lead (RN) ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care and provides leadership and support to nursing staff during assigned shifts. This role oversees clinical operations, monitors nursing care, and acts as a resource for staff to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and best practices. The Clinical Nurse Lead collaborates with management to drive improvements in patient outcomes, enhance the patient experience, and contribute to the professional development of the nursing team.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees the daily operations of the unit during assigned shifts, ensuring efficient workflows and high-quality patient care.
  • Participates in patient admission, discharge, and transfer processes to maintain efficient throughput and excellent care coordination.
  • Monitors and evaluates the quality of nursing care provided, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to foster a culture of teamwork, supporting improved patient outcomes and service delivery.
  • Models and promotes a patient-first philosophy, addressing concerns promptly and engaging in service recovery when necessary.
  • Serves as a resource for nursing staff, providing clinical expertise, guidance, and support to enhance professional practice.
  • Assists in interviewing, onboarding, and training new staff, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and standards.
  • Contributes to performance evaluations and professional development plans for nursing staff, addressing performance concerns and recommending corrective actions when needed.
  • Coordinates and adjusts staff schedules to align with patient care needs and productivity targets, ensuring adequate coverage and workload balance.
  • Supports inventory control efforts by monitoring and managing the availability of supplies and equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in bedside nursing required
  • 1-2 years of prior leadership or charge nurse experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices, patient care standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills to support effective decision-making in dynamic clinical settings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to mentor and develop staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and accountability.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other clinical technologies.

Licenses and Certifications

  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support required
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support required
