Job Summary
This role will report to the Sr. Director, Legal Operations and will own the enterprise eDiscovery, legal holds, and records and information governance functions. This role will partner across Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Security, and Technology functions to manage information throughout its lifecycle. Additionally, this role will partner with Walgreens litigation team members, outside counsel, and managed review providers on matters large and small and will be expected to meet tight deadlines, if required on large matters. This role will own Relativity One, Relativity Holds platforms and Walgreens relationship with Lineal, our preferred managed review provider. This role will need to leverage AI and emerging technologies and optimize records retention and defensible disposition practices.
Job Responsibilities
- Primarily leverages knowledge of legal specialty in providing counsel as it builds its knowledge of the business context in which it operates.
- Review and prepare legal documents prior to presentation to management for execution to ensure accurate expression of the legal content.
- May receive specific direction from management or more senior law professionals as to the outcomes, process and schedules expected.
- Collaborates with the business units that it serves in order to achieve corporate objectives and mitigate unnecessary business risk.
- Research legal principles and precedents, engage and manage outside counsel, draft legal documents, gather relevant case related information using multiple sources and methods, provide work guidance to other professional, paraprofessional and support staff in developing solutions to problems presented.
- Maintain currency and fluency in the legal and business trends that could impact those business units within Walgreens that it serves.

Basic Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and at least 5 years of post-bar attorney legal work experience in a combination of law firm and corporate settings.
- Required licensure to practice law in at least one state.
- Required Illinois bar membership or active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.
- At least 5 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.
- At least 5 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or cross functional team leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD)
- A recognized leader in eDiscovery and information governance
- Experience leading complex eDiscovery matters involving large-scale data collections, advanced analytics, Technology Assisted Review (TAR), and modern investigative techniques
- Experience owning and managing Relativity and Relativity Hold platforms
- Experience preserving information within the Microsoft Suite, especially Outlook, Teams, etc.
- Experience partnering with third-parties on managing contract review
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in eDiscovery, legal holds, information governance, and/or records management
- Experience developing and implementing enterprise-wide information governance and records retention programs
- Experience partnering with Legal, Compliance, Privacy, Information Security, Cybersecurity, and Enterprise Data teams to manage information lifecycle and data risk
- Industry certifications such as Certified E-Discovery Specialist (CEDS), Relativity Certified Administrator (RCA) or similar eDiscovery platform certification, Information Governance Professional (IGP), and/or Certified Records Manager (CRM)
