Responsibilities:
How will you make an impact?
The Technical Writer/Editor position is a mid-level role, responsible for writing and editing various technical documents, ensuring all documentation is accurate, easy to understand, and adheres to established standards. This role involves collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure technical accuracy and consistency across all platforms. Assists Technical Analyst with mentoring junior staff and other projects as needed.
Responsibilities:
Content Creation and Management
- Work extensively with subject matter experts (SMEs) across various departments to determine the needs of the target audience and adapt complex information to their level of technical understanding.
- Plan, research, write, and edit a wide range of documentation, including Company-produced technical manuals, handbooks, legal contracts, alerts, and bulletins.
- Create and incorporate visual aids such as screenshots, diagrams, flowcharts, and technical drawings to enhance user comprehension.
- Manage document version control and maintain up-to-date documentation in appropriate repositories (e.g., content management systems/XML/DITA and Adobe FrameMaker).
- When required, coordinate with printing company to produce printed copies of documents and ensure timely delivery to end users.
Collaboration and Leadership
- Collaborate proactively with cross-functional teams, including Maintenance, Engineering, Flight Operations, Flight Services, Safety, Legal, Maintenance/System Operations Control, etc., to gather information and ensure technical accuracy.
- Assist Technical Analyst with mentoring Junior Technical Writers/Editors and foster an atmosphere of collaboration through the department.
Standards and Quality Assurance
- Assist Technical Analyst with development and implementation of in-house style, writing standards, and documentation templates to ensure consistency and quality across all deliverables.
- Review and edit content created by other team members for clarity, grammar, style, and technical accuracy.
- Ensure all documentation is compliant with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.

In this role, the Editor must be customer orientated, have a positive and optimistic outlook with a strong work ethic. The Editor must also have the ability to effectively and efficiently complete work assignments and monitor progress of incoming Company maintenance manual revision requests.
Qualifications and skills:
- Minimum age of 18
- Possess the legal right to work in the United States
- High-level understanding of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and subject matter experts.
- Must possess analytical, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work in a team environment and/or independently with minimal supervision.
- Previous aviation experience preferred.
- Ability to learn and become proficient in industry-standard documentation software and platforms (e.g., XML/DITA, Adobe FrameMaker/Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite).
- College degree in relevant field preferred and/or combination of education and prior relevant work experience is acceptable.
