Overview
Provides high-level administrative and editorial support for two editors including soliciting peer reviews for proposals and manuscripts and endorsements for marketing and promotional purposes; drafting memos, budgets, and other materials for internal and external editorial and marketing meetings; working closely with authors to prepare manuscripts and accompanying materials for editing and production, and maintaining spreadsheets, files, and databases. Collaborates closely with editors to prioritize tasks and workflow. Participates in hiring and training of academic year and summer interns. May be asked to help represent the Press at academic conferences.
Required Skills and Abilities
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including notetaking abilities and proofreading skills, as well as organizational skills, including the ability to maintain thorough and accurate records with minimal supervision.
Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with colleagues, faculty, authors, and publishing industry professionals with responsiveness, courtesy, tact, and discretion.
Curiosity, proactivity, and engagement; demonstrated ability to anticipate and plan ahead to meet deadlines, seeking guidance as needed; to own and complete daily and seasonal tasks independently and efficiently; and to be accountable for completed work.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Software.
An understanding of the value of diversity and the importance of inclusion as demonstrated through a commitment to apply and incorporate the differences, complexities, and opportunities that diversity brings to an organization.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
Experience in the publishing industry.
Experience with title management software and systems.
