Title: EDM OperatorReports to: Tool Room SupervisorDepartment: Faulkner Tool Manufacturing
Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Tool Room Supervisor, the EDM Operator is responsible for setting up, programming, operating and maintaining EDM machines to produce components to 3D models or drawings. This will be achieved while maintaining HellermannTyton's Quality and EHS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation.
Essential Functions
Setup parts, create programs using Mastercam software and setup electrodes to operate sinker and wire EDM machines.
Create programs to finish core and cavity detail as discussed during job meetings.
Must be able to operate supporting equipment; surface grinders, hole popper, cutoff saw, etc..
Perform weekly required machine maintenance.
Maximize machine utilization and program for unattended machine operation for off shift machine run time.
Ability to inspect machined electrodes utilizing precision measuring equipment or interpret CMM reports for electrodes.
File documents and programs in appropriate file storage system.
Other Functions
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Key Competencies
Ability to create wire edm programs using Mastercam software.
Ability to setup machine to hold tolerances of +/-.0005".
Knowledge of plastic injection molds and tolerances associated with features of molds.
Must be knowledgeable with computer to archive programs under correct job folders.
Understanding of best practices for creating wire edm and sinker edm programs for efficient material removal.
Qualifications (skills, knowledge, experience)
Minimum of 5 years operating and programming EDM machines for plastic injection molds.
