Job Focus Area

This Education Consultant 3 is located in the Office of Assessments, Accountability, and Analytics (AAA) in the division of Data Strategy & Governance (DSG), and will report to a classified Education Consultant Supervisor. The person in this position will be responsible for educator workforce reporting/analysis, the data management and calculation coordination of the teacher preparation accountability system, federal and state mandated reporting, which includes preparing reports, studies, and presentations. This position will serve as a liaison to other offices within the Louisiana Department of Education with related work. The preferred candidate should have strong project management and analytical skills, experience collaborating across functional teams, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and experience leading professional development. Preference will be given to candidates with an intermediate to advanced ability to use programs to analyze data.

Minimum Qualifications

Seven years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

Six years of full-time work experience plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

A bachelors degree plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR

An advanced degree plus three years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Job Duties and Other Information

The Education Consultant 3 position will work within the LDOE's Data Governance team to become the subject-matter expert on educator workforce reporting, teacher preparation quality ratings, and workforce-related reporting requirements. This position will:

  • Project lead for the annual release of a suite of educator workforce tools, dashboards, and resources to support schools, school systems, and preparation programs in recruiting, training, evaluating, and retaining a cadre of educators who meet Louisianas workforce needs.
  • Project lead for annual workforce reporting calculations and analysis, resulting in state and regional Workforce Snapshot Reports; author of the annual state and regional Workforce Snapshot Reports.
  • Create all workforce-related materials, including but not limited to external/internal FAQs, presentations, and all BESE materials.
  • Manage the data verification process for the teacher preparation accountability system
  • Author federal- and state-mandated reports relating to educator workforce
  • Serve as the liaison between AAA and the office of Teaching & Learning to support program leads in determining data strategy based on a thorough understanding of data collection/usage
  • Serve as the educator workforce subject-matter expert for the LDOE Data Governance Committee
  • Develop business rules for data calculation based on Agency goals

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.

Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.

Work Schedule: Work hours are Monday - Friday. Work hours will be determined.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant series has a special entrance rate of $28.97 hourly, $2,317.20 biweekly that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
