Position Purpose/Summary
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Recreation oversees and directs the planning, organizing and implementation of education services for children. These services contribute to the increased social emotional competencies of children increased academic enrichment opportunities and the recognition and enhancement of parents as the primary educators of their children. Responsible for the Citys after school and summer programming, curriculum development, staff training and professional development. Work involves ensuring program sites provide quality and measureable academic help, enrichment and recreational opportunities, and character education for youth who attend. Work is performed with considerable professional independence in accordance with policy and accepted practices in the field of after school programs. Supervision is exercised over assigned staff.

Paid Vacation

Full time employees are immediately eligible to begin accruing 1 1/4 days per month which can be taken after 6 months of service. Supplemental Long Term and Short disability coverage is available to employees at the employee cost.
Paid Personal Days
Use up to 3 of your accrued sick days as Personal days. Personal days cannot be rolled over into the next calendar year.

Do you have a bachelors degree in education, youth development, sociology, psychology or a related field?

Do you have a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in an educational or out-of-school-time setting?

Do you have a minimum of four (4) years of experience planning, developing, and evaluating programs and working with community organizations?

Do you have a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience?

Do you have experience in grant writing, budgeting and oversight?

Do you have experience in curriculum development and project-based learning strategies?

Are you CPR and First Aid certified? (preferred)

Are you a current City of Springfield resident?
