Job Summary

The Education Professional I is responsible for designing, delivering, and assessing educational programs and curricula within an academic or training environment. This role involves applying academic, instructive, and pedagogical principles and best practices to enhance student learning and development. The Education Professional I may work in various settings, including schools, colleges, institutes, training centers, and other educational organizations. They collaborate with educators, administrators, and a variety of assorted personnel in an attempt to ensure the delivery of high-quality education and support the achievement of learning outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop and implement educational programs, lesson plans, and curricula aligned with agency goals and standards. Develop techniques for delivering engaging and effective instruction to students, using a variety of teaching methods and materials. Assess student learning and progress through formative and summative evaluations. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to student performance and program activities. Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and a variety of assorted personnel in an attempt to improve educational practices and outcomes. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in education. Cultivate a learning environment that supports student engagement and success. Use educational technology and tools to enhance instruction and learning experiences. Advocate for policies and initiatives that support the advancement of education.

The Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Professional I supports the implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of Early Childhood Special Education services for children with disabilities ages three through five across Arkansas. Working under the direction of DESE Federal Programs and the Office of Special Education, this position serves as a key resource for local education agencies, ECSE Coordinators, related service providers, teachers, families, and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality services, improved outcomes for young children with disabilities, and compliance with federal and state requirements. This position serves various regions of Arkansas and collaborates closely with the Office of Early Childhood, state and local agencies, and community partners to strengthen the statewide system of service delivery for preschool-aged children with disabilities. This team member will collaborate with the Monitoring and Program Effectiveness section to support monitoring activities and evaluate early childhood programs for compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other applicable federal and state regulations. This individual will collaborate with the Dispute Resolution section to address concerns between parents and local education agencies, investigate state complaints, and support dispute resolution efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Education, a specific subject area, or a related field.

Comprehensive knowledge of educational principles, practices, and curriculum development.

Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Experience in using educational technology and digital tools.

Familiarity with state and federal regulations related to education.

Certification in teaching or educational administration preferred.

Ability to work effectively with educators and a variety of assorted personnel.

Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in education.
