About the Position

The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) is seeking to employ an education program development specialist for the Office of Curriculum and Instruction to serve as a statewide content specialist for Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). This position requires educational expertise in MTSS. • Develop and provide MTSS professional learning for school-based teams, administrators, staff, and parents. • Assist schools/districts with MTSS implementation processes in accordance with state policy. • Provide guidance and professional learning related to MTSS implementation fidelity including data-based decision making, intervention processes, progress monitoring, and intervention documentation. • Provide statewide monitoring of MTSS processes, including onsite and virtual reviews. • Frequent travel required.

What youll need to be Successful

  • Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. • Knowledge of Dyslexia, English learner, and Gifted Education programming preferred. • Ability to build collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders. • Extensive knowledge of MTSS processes and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires a relevant Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of experience. Hiring agency prefers: • Master's Degree from an accredited 4-year college or university. • Current teaching license. • Minimum 5 years of successful teaching experience. • Minimum 5 years of experience providing evidence-based intervention support. • Experience developing and delivering professional learning for adult educators.

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave

Full-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.

Military Leave

In accordance with federal law, all employees serving in the armed forces or the military reserves are entitled to 15 days per year for military training.
