Overview Education - Project Engineer - Long BeachCordoba Corporation is seeking a Project Engineer with outstanding communication skills and field experience, who will assist the Construction Manager in the daily management, reporting, communications, operations, coordination, and general administrative needs of projects assigned. Individuals must be able to manage multiple tasks, exhibit strong organizational skills, and have a basic understanding of design and construction.Responsibilities Provides technical and engineering support to the Construction ManagerCoordinates with District staff, contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, consultants and other construction support staffParticipates in, and occasionally runs, design or construction meetingsMakes field checks on construction, demolition, rehabilitation, alteration addition or repair projects to determine compliance with job specifications, plans, established district standards, and Division of the State Architect (DSA) requirementsReads and interprets construction plans and shop drawingsAssists in preparing written materials including correspondence, reports, procedures, and guidelinesSupports development of weekly/monthly status and photos reports for project teamReviews, estimates, negotiates, and processes construction change orders and construction field ordersReviews and enforces construction and professional services contractsManages and directs contractors and outside consultants including reviewing and approving invoicesFacilitates resolutions of construction and design issuesReviews and confirms accuracy of requests for information from the contractor prior to submission to the Architect of RecordCoordinates with Architects for timely and accurate responses to requests for information, submittals, Construction Change Documents, etc.Generates and distributes meeting minutes (construction meetings, design meetings, etc.)Confirms contractor's maintenance of record drawings prior to monthly progress payments to the ContractorMaintain project files and logs in both electronic and paper formatReviews submittals for conformance to plans and specificationsAssist in obtaining and reviewing cost estimates and schedule updates during each design phase and through the bidding phaseAssist in the bid solicitation and General Contractor outreach programAssist the Construction Manager with the quality control program to ensure all work is correct and documentedPerform daily site photograph and written documentation of work performedPrepare and distribute monthly project status reportsAssist with the coordination of special inspections and testing laboratoriesCoordinate and facilitate the closeout and commissioning phase of the projectDevelop the punchlist and verify successful completion and acceptance of each itemRequest and obtain all required warranties from the contractor, arrange and submit to the DistrictOther job-related duties or projects as assignedQualifications 6mos-3 years minimum recent professional experience in a similar or equivalent position involved in project or constructionBS/BA Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related degree. Additional qualifying experience in excess to the minimum stated above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Ability to take initiative and make sound decisions.Knowledge of construction management proceduresKnowledge of contract documentsKnowledge of industry practicesProficiency in Microsoft OfficeExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong competency in construction management software ie.
