HAMPSHIRE REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL Education Team Leader (ETL)

DESCRIPTION: The Education Team Leader is a certified Special Education Teacher. The primary functions of this position includes academic testing and meetings for eligibility/initial evaluations and three year re-evaluations, writing and reviewing IEPs, and running annual meetings and updating annual IEPs.

SUPERVISION: Works under the supervision of the Principal and the Pupil Services Director. Evaluated by the Principal or designee.

JOB ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed within a secondary school environment in both special education and general education classrooms.

Home visits and transition meetings at other locations may be necessary to ensure consistency of programming and carryover.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Curriculum, Planning and Assessment Demonstrate knowledge of the developmental levels of students in the classroom and the different ways the students learn Coordinate and facilitate specialized programming and support services in compliance with federal and state requirements for students with special needs in grades 7-12 in collaboration with other special education teachers and administration. This includes conferring with parents, administrators, testing team, social workers and others to develop and write Individual Education Programs for students. Evaluate and observe students as part of an IEP team. Collect and analyze data from various sources including formal and informal assessments, observations, performance evaluations and teacher reports. Convene and chair Special Education team meetings Work with administration to seek resolution when conflicts arise regarding accommodations, modifications, or other IEP issues Create, implement, facilitate and evaluate a school-wide pre-referral process Teaching All Students Support the positive transition, placement and curriculum planning for students with special needs into general education classroom activities. In collaboration with guidance and administration, schedule and plan student support in all settings including appropriate Sped staff and paraprofessionals in inclusion and pull out settings. Create schedules for students with IEPs Support administration to prepare for statewide standardized testing with accommodations as dictated in all students' IEPs. This includes making appropriate recommendation in the IEP for standardized and non-standard accommodations. Provide appropriate direction to the teaching team for the facilitation of inclusion when necessary. Family and Community Engagement Maintain open and effective communication with parents, staff, and administration about student learning, progress and grades Anticipate and respond appropriately to misunderstandings, conflicts, differences and questions regarding a student's IEP Seek out the professional opinion of outside agencies when necessary Chair transition meetings over the summer for students transitioning in from other districts on IEPs Facilitate placement, transfer, and termination of students in special education programs Facilitate placement, transfer, and termination of students at alternative settings (such as Mt. Tom, ICE Program, or other). Professional Culture Notify appropriate special and regular education staff of evaluation requirements Notify all participants of their roles in their evaluation process Work with office staff to schedule team meetings in compliance with state and federal Special Education regulations Participate actively in team/department/faculty meetings Continuously seek out ideas for improving practice and actively participate in professional development opportunities and the educator evaluation process Collaborate with colleagues to support students on IEPs, develop curriculum, analyze student performance, and plan interventions Assist with the interpretation of IEPs as needed Observe and implement the rules and regulations established for the school as outlined in the HRHS Student-Family Handbook and by administration Assist with the organization and maintenance of Special Education records and enrollment Perform any other task/duty required or requested that is related to maintaining services and student records in compliance with Federal and state law, regulation, and policy.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: MA License Moderate Disabilities 6-12 OR Master's Degree in Counseling or Psychology Master's Degree preferred, Bachelor's Degree required Special Education teaching experience with students with disabilities Experience in Special Education regulations and IEP Team Process Superior interpersonal skills/ability to communicate and interact with parents, staff, and students. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Principal may find appropriate.

Work effort principally involves sitting to perform work tasks, with frequent periods of stooping, walking, and standing. Motor Skills: Duties may involve assignments requiring application of hand and eye coordination with finger dexterity and motor coordination. Examples include , using a personal computer or climbing a ladder.

Visual/Auditory Skills: The employee is required to constantly read documents, personal computer screens and written reports for general understanding and routinely for analytical purposes. The employee must have the auditory ability to listen and comprehend. The employee is not regularly required to determine color differences.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Yearly salary established according to Hampshire Regional Teachers Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Up to 10 additional days of summer work may be required at the per diem rate as determined by the Principal on a yearly basis.
