UVA Health Continuing Education seeks an Education Technologist to be hired at either the Academic Technologist level 1 or 2. Level will be determined by qualifications.

About UVA Health Continuing Education

UVA Health Continuing Education (UVA Health CE) is a jointly accredited provider of Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE), representing a collaborative partnership between the UVA School of Medicine and the UVA School of Nursing.

UVA Health CE supports the continuing professional development of the entire healthcare team by planning and accrediting over 250 CE activities annually. These activities improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes through high-quality, evidence-based education. UVA Health CE collaborates with health systems, professional societies, and organizations to deliver innovative, engaging, and impactful educational experiences.

Position Summary

The Education Technologist plays a central role in advancing the digital strategy and technical infrastructure of UVA Health CE. This position is responsible for managing education technologies, developing engaging digital learning experiences, and supporting the delivery of high-quality continuing medical education across live, hybrid, and online formats.

This role centralizes educational technology functions that are currently distributed or outsourced, improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing the consistency and quality of CME programs. The Education Technologist supports more than 250 annual CE activities and contributes to the growth and scalability of UVA Health CE offerings through innovation in digital education and multimedia production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Educational Technology & Learning Platform Management - Manage and optimize learning management systems and CME technologies, including CloudCME administration, course setup, reporting, learner experience, and digital learning environments.
  • Digital Learning Content & Multimedia Development - Design and develop engaging online learning experiences, interactive eLearning modules, video-based educational content, and instructional materials using evidence-based design principles.
  • Audiovisual Production & Technical Event Support - Coordinate and support audiovisual and technology needs for live, hybrid, and virtual CE activities, including vendor management, livestreaming, troubleshooting, and faculty support.
  • Operational Excellence & Technology Innovation - Improve efficiency, scalability, and consistency of CE programs through workflow optimization, in-house production capabilities, process improvement, documentation, and adoption of emerging technologies.
  • Strategic Collaboration, Training & Program Growth - Partner with CE leadership and program managers to support course delivery, train faculty and staff on educational technologies, contribute to new digital education initiatives, and support growth of UVA Health CE programs and partnerships.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor"s degree required; may consider combination of relevant experience, education, certification(s) in lieu of degree.
  • Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience required for consideration of level 2.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting continuing medical education (CME), higher education, or healthcare education programs
  • Familiarity with instructional design principles and adult learning theory
  • Experience managing webinars, live, hybrid, and virtual events, including audiovisual (AV) coordination and support
  • Skills in video editing, multimedia production, and digital content development
  • Experience providing or coordinating audio/visual technical support for educational programs or events
  • Strong technical troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Software Experience / Familiarity

Experience with or familiarity in the following tools and platforms is preferred:

  • Learning Management & CME Systems - CloudCME, Path LMS, Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard, and similar learning management and continuing education platforms.
  • eLearning & Interactive Content Development - Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise), Adobe Captivate, H5P, iSpring Suite, Lectora, and video-interactive platforms such as EdPuzzle and Panopto.
  • Video, Audio & Multimedia Production - Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition), Camtasia, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Descript, Synthesia, Pictory, and Vyond.
  • Microsoft, Cloud & Collaboration Technologies - Microsoft 365 tools (SharePoint, Teams, Power Automate, Forms), Microsoft Azure, Zoom, Teams Live Events, and related collaboration technologies.
  • Web, Digital Content & Event Technologies - Basic HTML/CSS, WordPress and other content management systems, OBS Studio, AV control systems, lecture capture, livestreaming, and educational media delivery technologies.

Physical Demands

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

Salary Range

  • Level 1 is a non-exempt-level, benefited position. The anticipated hiring range for this level is $25-$31/hour, commensurate with education and experience. Level 2 is an exempt-level, benefited position. The anticipated hiring range for this level is $65,000-70,000, commensurate with education and experience. Learn more about UVA benefits .

Position Type & Work Location

  • This is a restricted position, which is dependent on funding and is contingent upon funding availability.
  • This position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 1 day on grounds per week, with additional on-site presence as needed, in accordance with UVA's remote work guidelines.
