Summary ----------

Assist the classroom teacher in meeting the day-to-day needs of the students.

Minimum Qualifications ----------------------

• 18 years of age • High School diploma or equivalent • Hold or be able to obtain a valid Educational Aide Permit from the Ohio State Board of Education (SBOE) with Elementary Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Qualified Endorsement • Ohio BCI and Federal Background check free of disqualifying infractions • Comply with drug-free workplace rules and board policies • Participate and pass where applicable in all required training, including but not limited to: • Bloodborne Pathogens • Crisis Intervention • Educator Ethics • etc.

Essential Functions

Monitor and assist students as needed in classroom routines. Assists teacher with implementation of student individual education plans. Assists students with mobility, physical, and clothing needs such as: • Positioning • Feeding • Toileting • Diapering • Getting on and off transportation vehicles as needed Assists in maintaining a conducive learning environment free of health and safety hazards. Works with students both individually and in small groups to promote learning and skills initially introduced by the teacher. Efficiently operate Google Applications, including Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Docs, etc. Assists students in health-related procedures such as: • Clean intermittent catheterization • Tube feeding • etc. Initiate and follow through with behavioral interventions as appropriate. Communicate regularly with the classroom teacher regarding student progress, behavior, or individual needs. Participate in multidisciplinary and trans-disciplinary meetings as necessary. Accompany, assist, and monitor students as needed in all other areas of the school program outside of the classroom, vocational, community, co-curricular inclusion settings. Maintain confidentiality of student information. Perform other specific duties as assigned.
